State Sen. Dan Debicella conceded the 4th District Congressional race tonight, taking the stage at 10:35 pm to congratulate his opponent, incumbent Jim Himes, after a close contest made even more unpredictable by voting problems in Bridgeport.

"The good news is that we're up by 5,000," said Debicella, surrounded by supporters. "The bad news is that the results aren't in from Bridgeport yet, and we're going to lose there by significantly more than 5,000."

Polls showed the race between Himes and Debicella to be close, and election results weren't expected until late in the evening due to issues at various polling places in the district.

Problems in Bridgeport created some unexpected drama as several polling places in the district's largest city ran out of ballots in the early afternoon, forcing election officials to photocopy ballots and prompting Democratic leaders to ask for extended polling hours.
