Adult Day Care for Seniors
from the CPTV series "Seniors: Living a Quality Life"
Studies show that seniors who are mentally, emotionally and socially stimulated are more likely to retain their physical and mental health for a longer period. One way that this kind of stimulation can be provided is when a senior attends an adult day care center. This segment from the CPTV series, “Seniors: Living a Quality Life” provides information about these centers and profiles of some of the people who use them.
Adult day care centers not only provide services for the individuals who attend them, but also provide essential respite time for the individuals’ caregivers. There are currently about 50 centers serving seniors throughout Connecticut. They generally provide supervision, social and recreational activities, lunch and snacks.
An adult day care center may follow the social model, providing the services listed above, or the medical model, where these services are combined with personal and medical care, therapy, and health monitoring from a nurse or other health practitioner on the premises.

We’re as much about helping the caregiver as we are about helping the participant that comes here.
