The video above, first seen on the CPTV series All Things Connecticut, highlights the work of Andes Manta.

Growing up in Equador, the Brothers Lopez –each an accomplished musician--have been performing since childhood.  Known internationally as Andes Manta—music of the Andes—their earthy, acoustic compositions come from a rich mix of South American cultures.

The Lopez Brothers learned music as children at village gatherings, ceremonies and family events.  An invitation to perform at a New England college some 20 years ago, grew into a life’s work; offering school and university audiences an immersion experience into their culture.

While influenced by traditional songs and instruments of the entire mountain region, over the years they’ve developed a kind of Andean jazz--original tunes and themes that have evolved through improvisation--from festival to festival.
