Annual Event Benefits the Make A Wish Foundation
14 acres of sunflowers help children in need
In 2003 the Button family planted a one acre field of sunflowers to enhance the view near their ice cream stand. They soon discovered that people were coming from far and wide to take it all in.
When the flowers expired, they used them as feed for their cattle.
They soon figured out that they could do so much more with the tall yellow blossoms.
In 2004 they planted 10 acres of sunflowers and established the "Sunflowers for Wishes" fundraiser. This year they are up to 14 acres.
The event has become wildly popular and has become an annual staple in the town of Griswold,CT.
A five flower bouquet of sunflowers is yours for a $5.00 donation. All proceeds,100%, goes directly to the Make a Wish Foundation.
There also are hayrides through the fields and Make A Wish T-shirts available. This years event runs from July 17th to July 25th.
See you at Buttonwood Farm.

Families are our customers...a family comes to get ice cream...and when a child is sick a family suffers the illness. So its very parallel but drastically different and it just makes a really good match.
