Senior Driver Safety

People in their 50’s and 60’s are among the safest drivers on the road. However, failing eyesight and hearing, physical limitations, and even prescription medication may complicate matters as drivers reach their 70's and beyond.
Senior drivers who take a defensive driving course show a 10% reduction in accidents. In CT, drivers over the age of 62 who complete such a course are entitled to a rebate on the liability component of their auto insurance of at least 5% for at least 2 years.
Many older drivers avail themselves of courses offered by AARP. The AARP Driver Safety Program has helped millions of drivers stay safe on the roads since its inception in 1979.

For most older drivers, eliminating the highest risk part of driving is the way to continue driving longer.
