LIGHTHOUSES of NEW ENGLAND Part 4
In this series of videos produced by CPTV, writer / director Susan Sulavik Peters looks at the stories and memories behind these shoreline sentinels, while videographer Kevin Kuhl beautifully captures the iconic majesty of the rugged New England coast.
Featured throughout are the recollections of life as a lighthouse keeper, the involvement of The U.S. Coast Guard and a look at the public / private partnerships that keep these historic structures up and running.
This CPTV original program first aired in 1988.
Part 4 looks at how lighthouses are currently maintained and at the partnerships formed by the US Coast Guard, some private owners and non-profit agencies that have come together to keep these icons relevant.

It becomes in the long run, less expensive to automate a light. To say that its more reliable than a human... everything has its pros and cons.
