The Matt Zeiner Band
Connecticut native Matt Zeiner started his musical education early. Growing up in a household where he regularly heard jazz and R&B, the son of Ray Zeiner, member of local legends The Wildweeds, was encouraged to study classical piano. Struck by an early experience with the Hammond B3 organ, Matt inevitably turned to the instrument in high school playing straight-ahead jazz. After college, he continued his education in jazz and blues by hitting the road with legendary blues guitarist Matt Murphy. He followed that experience with a four year stint playing in The Dickey Betts Band whose unique playing style had a great influence on his developing songwriting skills.
Matt now draws on all these influence in The Matt Zeiner Band. Playing with guitarists Ray Morant and Dennis Fancher and drummer Joe Mazza, Matt leads the talented group through well developed compositions that skillfully combine elements of rock, jazz and blues. Here the band is captured at a performance at Infinity Hall in Norfolk, CT. on May 14, 2010

The thing about the hammond organ is that it does one thing, and the one thing that it does, it's the only thing that does it. So if you're about that one thing . . . there's nothing else that's really going to scratch that itch.
