The McLovins
After meeting bassist Jason Ott and guitarist Jeff Howard at music camps during the summer of 2008, drummer Jake Huffman invited them to his basement for a jam. From the start, the music clicked in a burst of energy that became The McLovins. Trained in jazz, rock and classical music and influenced by bands from The Beatles to Phish, the young musicians added traces of reggae, funk, hiphop and trance and fused their own jam rock sound.
Later that year, they posted a video on youtube for family and friends of the band playing You Enjoy Myself by Phish in Jake's basement. The video created a buzz in The Phish community and led to the naming of the band as The McLovins when fans noticed a resemblance to two characters in the popular movie Superbad. What they also noticed was the bands unique songwriting skills, energy, and instrumental prowess.
Since that time, the band has recorded and released two cds of original music- Conundrum in 2009 and Good Catch in 2010. They continue to increase their fan base with electric performances and have become popular on the summer festival circuit with perfornces this year at Strange Creek, Moutain Jam and a return trip to Bridgeport's Gathering Of The Vibes.
As they contemplate their futures, the one thing that seems to be in everyone's plans is that The McLovins will continue.

Tokyo Tea (Jake Huffman, Jason Ott, Jeff Howard)
standing like a statue
with a rose gripped in his teeth
you know he rolls
the dice
he could take them all
except for one
and guess who his gaze is on
the only one
you know he can’t stand to lose
no not this one
cm-on kitkat gimme the news
i ain’t got time for all this blues
she advances towards the bar
he orders her a drink
a tokyo tea
on ice
she knows just what she wants
and sees what she can get
she’s not surprised
to find
you know she can’t stand to lose
no not this one
cm-on kitkat gimme the news
i ain’t got time for all this blues
playing hard to get
will only make you lose
playing hard to get
will only make you lose
remember playing hard to get
will only make you lose
you’re mine
you know i can’t stand to lose
no not this time

There was like a spark when we first played and we felt that the first time. . . so we just ran with it.
