Never Too Old for a Little Healthy Competition
from the CPTV series "Seniors: Living a Quality Life"
The Connecticut Senior Games allow the state’s older athletes to compete against their peers in a yearly Olympic-style event. The competition includes: archery, badminton, basketball, racquetball, swimming, table tennis, track & field, and more. The games have hosted thousands of participants ages 50 to nearly 90 since they began in 1980.
The mission of the Senior Games is to:
• Promote better overall health and fitness among senior citizens.
• Recognize & reward Connecticut Senior residents / athletes who have chosen to participate in the Connecticut Senior Games, that reflect positively on them, their families and respective communities.
• Provide a unique forum which embodies the Olympic spirit of competition.
• Inspire the development of physical and competitive abilities by Connecticut senior athletes.
In this “Seniors: Living a Quality Life” segment from 2005, we get to know competitors Malcolm Goering, Carolyn Vanacore, K. C. Jones, Richard Castiglione, and Fred Salvati.
