Brownstone Exploration and Discovery Park
In this on going series about The Portland Brownstone Quarry, located in Portland,CT, we get a quick tour from Sean Hayes, Managing Director of the Brownstone Exploration and Discovery Park.
As one of three Brothers who own and operate the Discovery Park, Sean Hayes describes to us in this short video what to expect when you visit the park. From scuba diving to zip lines, the park offers visitors a multitude of activities that allow it to claim the title "Sports Park".
Located with in the National Historic Landmark, the quarries natural beauty is protected by 100 foot walls and fed by a natural underground spring since it's flooding in 1938. Sean Hayes along with his Brothers, Ed Hayes and Frank Hayes negotiated a lease of the quarry from the town of Portland in 2007.
Since then they have cleaned out and renovated the quarry turning it into one of the most amazing exploration and sports parks in the Northeast.
