The Royal Order of Old Fogeys
Members of the Royal Order of Old Fogeys
This group of senior men from Wethersfield, Connecticut are part of R.O.O.F., the Royal Order of Old Fogeys. One of the requirements of membership is that they each must prepare a paper or a presentation once a year. They share their work with the other members at the group’s monthly meetings.
Topics covered include everything from current events to ancient history. Members say R.O.O.F. provides camaraderie, intellectual stimulation and helps to keep them young. “I love thinking of trying to find something that will stir the imagination and excite the minds of the other guys in the group,” says member Robbins Barstow.

So many people retire and say they’re going to go fishing. Well, that lasts for about three weeks and you get tired of fishing and then they don’t have anything else to do.
