The Shinolas
The Shinolas were formed in early 2009 as a way for guitarist Jim Chapdelaine and drummer Lorne Entress to make good music close to home on an off night. Adding pedal steel player Ed Iarusso and bassist Paul Kachanski, the Shinolas were born. On April 26th of that year, they began a residency at Tapas On Ann in downtown Hartford. For the working musicians, playing on Monday was a break from their busy careers and a chance to have some fun playing their favorite songs. Locals residents, too, had reason to celebrate Monday night- the food and atmosphere at Tapas and the chance to hear great musicians play and reinterpret the Americana songbook. Their set is likely to include songs by Johnny Cash, Neil Young, The Beach Boys, Ryan Adams and Hank Williams. And their unique original material blends right in. They don't shy away from playing the classic or the obscure. Neither are they reluctant to open it up in order to simply enjoy the moment of creating music and the high quality of each others musicianship. To add to the excitement, their talented friends frequently stop by to join in the fun. Past guests have included Mark Erelli, Jon Poussette-Dart and Big Al Anderson. The band recently marked their one year anniversary at Tapas and appear to be enjoyng it too much to stop anytime soon.
The Shinolas can be seen most Monday nights at Tapas in downtown Hartford. Showtime is from 7 to 10.

The motivation for forming The Shinolas was to play within a half an hour of home . . . and to play good music.
