The CPTV Original,WHEN DISASTER STRUCK CONNECTICUT,provides an in-depth look at the four major natural disasters that befell Connecticut between 1888 and 1955. These include the monumental “King Blizzard” (which delivered 20 to 50 inches of snow and drifts of up to 20 feet); two floods of near-Biblical proportions; and the most destructive hurricane in the state's history. Archival sources and eyewitness accounts paint a vivid picture of how Connecticut residents coped with—and overcame—these merciless forces of nature.

Alien they seemed to be:
No mortal eye could see
The intimate welding of their later history.
Or sign that they were bent
By paths coincedent
Or being anon twin halves of one august event.
Till the Spinner of the years
said "Now!'
The Convergence of the Twain

I live in this area of Connecticut myself it is called the Valley.. With hurricane Irene I was very concerned.. My parents were married 56 years ago. Thanks for the article, it helps me to understand what their families and others went through. My uncle told stories of the great flood, and we used to joke about the fact that back then there wasn't junk removal san jose or any other trash removal company, they had all been washed away by the flood.
