Frankenstein on $200 a Day

In a basement, a lonely professor threw a switch and animated his new robotic wife. On Tuesday, he will destroy her after she murders his ex-wife.

That’s according to the shooting schedule of a new film being made in East Rock this week.

The low-budget independent short is written and directed by Max Stenstrom, who grew up in Hamden. Now a sophomore at NYU, Stenstrom is financing the film with money saved from summers working at Best Video and taking the census in New Haven last year.

His film, with the working title of “The Factory,” is a direct homage to Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein.” It tells a similar cautionary tale about trying to play god with science.
