1. THE SULTANS OF SWAT. The New Haven Independent continues to lead the way with fascinating coverage of the violent encounters between New Haven police and college students.  If you haven't been following it, you might also want to click back into a few of their previous stories.

2. YPM's NEW LIMA BUREAU. Catie Talarski and Diane Orson of WNPR just happened to be in Peru when Vargas Llosa won the Nobel Prize for Literature. Here's a little background from Talarski.

3. CAUGHT IN A GAIL. New York Times columnist Gail Collin was spotted dining at Hot Tomato's in Hartford after attending Monday Night's Senate debate. Here she is on the Leonard Lopate show breaking down two big races.

4. TORCHES, PASSING OF.  The Connecticut Mirror covers the ambivalent emergence of Ted Kennedy, Jr. in Connecticut public life.

5. GREEN MOUNTAIN HOUSE: Even though it looks like a bunch of TV sets, we were blown away by this passive solar house  built by Habitat for Humanity in Vermont.

SHAMELESS SELF-PROMOTION. There's been a lot of after-talk about yesterday's conversation with Vicki Schieber, whose daughter was raped and murdered and who now advocates against the death penalty. Click on the audio to hear that show.
