YPM Gets Ready For The Dog Days Of The 2010 Political Season
Snarling and snapping precede the Aug. 10 primary
Dan Malloy sat down with Mr. Dankosky today. Here is Mr. Full Audio. Malloy talked more about his opponent Ned Lamont than candidates previously have in these interviews. Oddly enough, very little of what he said fell into the category of praise. But that's the way things are going as all the campaigns hit the first of two home stretches. At least Malloy didn't say his opponent was "like a prostitute," the way Martha Dean did. Over on the Republican side, Lt. Gov. Michael Fedele faces a tough choice regarding his role in the unfolding drama over the Clean Elections Program and a potential override of his governor's veto.
On the CMS, we had Meyers-Briggs personal type expert Paul Tieger analyze the candidates.
Tomorrow, Where We Vote brings Rob Simmons into the studio. One interesting side drama is the effect a resurgent Simmons might have on the three-way race in the Second Congressional district. Former TV anchor Janet Peckinpaugh endorsed Simmons. She's next to him on the ballot line, and a strong performance by Simmons could help her, even though his affections seem to lie elsewhere.
A couple of must-reads for political junkies: This piece on the role of interweb ads.
And the July winner of the coveted Silver Dankosky Trophy for most original political reporting: Thelonius Bass, for his Downbeaty analysis of Ned Lamont's piano chops.
