Conn. Congressional Freshman Cornered By Tax Cuts
Connecticut's Fourth District is represented by Democrat Jim Himes, a former Goldman Sachs employee who beat moderate Republican Chris Shays in 2008. Shays had held the seat for more than two decades. Now, Himes is facing a challenge from social moderate/fiscal conservative State Senator Dan Debicella. In a district that includes some of the nation's wealthiest towns, Himes wants a temporary extension of the Bush tax cuts for the nation's wealthiest people, but his Republican challenger says the cuts need to be permanent. He is hammering Himes for his support of the stimulus plan.
