Conn. Voters Can Wear Wrestling Garb To Polls: Judge

In what's definitely not the most earthshaking judicial decision of the 2010 mid-term elections, a federal judge has ruled that voters can don their wrestling wear safe in the knowledge they'll be allowed inside Connecticut polling places Tuesday to vote.

The U.S. Senate race in the Nutmeg State features Republican Linda McMahon, who once ran World Wrestling Entertainment. This raised concerns on the part of her supporters, including her husband Vince McMahon, that the state's election laws might be invoked to bar people in WWE gear from voting.

Their fear was that the Connecticut secretary of state might consider WWE and other shirts political advertising and thus electioneering of the sort normally prohibited at polling places.

U.S. District Judge Janet Bond Arterton ruled in favor the McMahons. So voters wearing shirts featuring Sheamus, Kane, Hornswoggle, Kofi Kingston, MVP, Michelle McCool or any other of their WWE favorites shouldn't be hassled by polling station officials, at least not for their WWE wardrobe.
