The Other Guys, starring the not-at-all-dead Will Ferrell, bumped Inception from the #1 spot at the box office. Meanwhile, Step Up 3D did only middling business compared to Step Up 2 The Streets, continuing the doubts about 3D that are being expressed, for instance, here.
It seems like a very natural fit and therefore no surprise at all, but Jane Lynch will be hosting Saturday Night Live on October 9, not long after Glee returns on September 21.

Google has counted all the books in the world (not really) in a highly scientific and completely reliable fashion (not really), and has arrived at the conclusion that there are 129,864,880 books in the world. Note that this means that if you read two books per week from the time you turned eight until you died at the age of 100, you would read something short of 10,000 books, or significantly less than one out of every 10,000 books in existence. Think about that the next time you hear someone try to list the best or most important books that exist in the world.

And finally, if you haven't heard, during HBO's press tour session on Saturday, the network announced that the current season of Entourage would finish up, a short season would be completed for next summer, and that will be the end for the TV show -- though there may be a movie. (Please note: the percentage of "there might be a movie" promises that ever happen is relatively small, though it does sometimes happen, as with Firefly and The X-Files.)
