An assistant editor at the Papers of Benjamin Franklin, Allegra di Bonaventura hold a J.D. from Yale Law School and a Ph.D. in History from Yale, where her dissertation won the William Eggelston Prize for the best dissertation in American history. She is finishing a book for W.W. Norton based on the lives of three early New England families: the yeoman Hempsteads, the radical Rogers, and the enslaved Jacksons.
