Leslie Bird was a voice student at Hartt School of Music and the Artists Collective. In 1988, she founded Women of the Cross, and as musical director composes original songs for the vocal trio. Since 2001 she has been a teaching artist for the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism; she is also a teaching artist with the Judy Dworin Performance Project at York Correctional Institution, at Synergy Alternative High School, and at the H.O.T Schools Institute.
She is a frequent collaborator and performer with the Judy Dworin Performance Ensemble.
