Mark Oppenheimer is the author of three books, most recently Wisenheimer: A Childhood Subject to Debate. He writes a biweekly column about religion for The New York Times, and is a writer for The New York Times Magazine, Slate, Mother Jones, The Forward, and many other publications. He is an editor of The New Haven Review and was an occasional commentator on NPR. In the school year 2009-2010 he is a lecturer in the English and Political Science departments of Yale University, and next year will be a visiting professor of creative writing at Wellesley College. He holds a doctorate in religious studies and is currently the coordinator of the Yale Journalism Initiative. With his wife, daughters, dog, and two cats, he lives in the Westville neighborhood of New Haven, Connecticut.
