Blumenthal Offers Email Apology
Blumenthal said he’s made mistakes and is sorry
In an e-mail to the Hartford Courant, Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal has apologized for misstatements he made about his military service during the Vietnam era. WNPR's, Diane Orson reports.
The controversy erupted nearly a week ago, when a New York Times report revealed that, on more than one occasion, Attorney General Blumenthal said he’d served in Vietnam. Blumenthal obtained at least five deferments and served stateside in the Marine Corps Reserves during the Vietnam era. He’s said that he unintentionally said “in” when he meant “during”.
In an e-mailed statement to the Courant on Sunday, the Attorney General said he’s made mistakes and is sorry. On Friday, Blumenthal won the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Chris Dodd. .
