Lawmakers say money doesn't affect their judgement

Although the extraordinary size and frenzy of the current Capitol Hill financial reform lobbying blitz has made it a hot news story, it's actually nothing new for members of the Senate Banking Committee.

 

They've been taking large amounts of money from financial services companies for years. And for many observers that raises a simple question: Can lawmakers who are so beholding to a megabillion industry really be expected to objectively carry out a mandate to dramatically change it?
