Colin McEnroe Show: Up, Down (And Around) Elevators
Elevators are exciting. No really, they are ...

Nobody talks about elevator travel until somebody gets stuck in one.
But that's not true. As we geared up for this show, we discovered a lot of writing and discoursing about, for example, basic elevator etiquette.
How much room you need and what you should or should not do? There is also, on the internet, an abundance of dabbling in elevator culture. We found one young man in Texas who has made YouTube videos in which he calmly and without excessive comment, rides and reviews commonplace elevators.
We found some one who had composed an elaborate piece of electronic music using just three elevator sounds.
We hope to hear from you today some colorful and necessarily quick stories of adventures in vertical transportation. At the end of today's show, we'll have an interview with Bill Cosby, visiting New Haven schools and neighborhoods today.

I made my mission to have fun in elevators. I worked in a medical building in New Haven and spent a great deal of time going up and down in the elevator. I adopted one of the elevators and encouraged and invited people to use my elevator. Each time I got into it I introduced all riders to my elevator. I introduced games in “my” elevator and did anything I could think of to make my trip (as short as it was) enjoyable! Most people were very uncomfortable to interact in the elevator but I persisted. After a while people began to call that elevator mine and started having fun while traveling in the elevator. At times I would remind people about “elevator etiquette” and remind them that they were not supposed to talk or look at any one else while on their ride. As they got off I thanked them for makingmy elevator feel wanted and happily employed. It was great fun and I continue doing things in elevators to this day.
