Colin McEnroe Show: Eddie Perez - Before the Verdict
There has been a kind of hush all over the Eddie Perez corruption trial. I don't know whether it's the shrinking local press corps or a kind of pervasive suburban hopelessness about Hartford, but never before has such a big case meant so little to so many.
This is, people of Connecticut, the mayor of your capital city.
As we wait for the verdict, there's a different kind of hush among the people who do care. What comes next? If Perez is acquitted, do we invoke the principle of: what doesn't kill me makes me stronger? (I think so.)
If Perez is guilty, how does Hartford proceed? Can the city's major challenges be addressed during a period of mass uncertainty? More questions than answers maybe, but we'll try to puncture the silence today.

I have seen [Mayor Perez] look very troubled ... and that's just about what you would expect from anybody going through a regional or national escapade.
