Colin McEnroe Show: Life Outside The Two Party System
"Fringe" candidates talk about the November election.
There's a whole bunch of minor parties active in Connecticut in this election cycle.
These include Green, Independent, Connecticut for Lieberman (which is not even remotely for Lieberman, long story), Working Families, Libertarian, and We, The People.
I want to say that I reached out to candidates from all of the above for our "Get To Know Your Fringe Candidates" shows, except for We, The People because I never did figure out who they were. The Libertarian guy we wanted couldn't be here today but I wanted you to know we did ask.
Even so, these episodes irritate some minor party people, who say it's too much of a cattle call. I get that. But this show at least does celebrate the idea of the smaller parties and petitioning candidates. It's a profoundly America tradition and we're a profoundly American show.

Who are the real "fringe" candidates?
The Socialist Action Party and the Green Party candidates are far more representative of the big majority of Americans who work each day to pay their bills than are the "major party" politicians. The Democratic Party and the Republican party are controlled by the wealthy corporations to serve their interests. In a real sense, they are the real "fringe candidates." It's high time the labor movement in our country started running Labor candidates against the two main corporate parties. Anyway, thanks for having these guys on your program.

Big fan of your show. I listen daily at lunch time.
In the beginning of today's show, when the 92 year old fringe candidate was describing what he had for breakfast, and you quipped "well, that sounds terrible" - I laughed so hard I almost drove into the car next to me. I was in tears for a solid 2 minutes. It was the way you said it that I found funny.
Just writing to say thanks for the good times
