Colin McEnroe Show: Rebuilding Hartford Sports

One nice thing about having a Hartford or a Connecticut team is the way it could potentially settle our restless loyalties. Red Sox or Yankees? Giants, Jets or Patriots? Celtics or Knicks? (OK, that one is currently sort of dormant because the New York team is so horrible.)

We spent a lot of time arguing with each other about these things, and sports tend to split our state roughly along the same fault line that existed during the American revolution. What is now Yankee territory leaned Tory. What is now Connecticut Red Sox Nation leaned patriot.

The solution is one or more Hartford franchises. Then we've got nothing to argue about, except who should be starting.

Today, meet Chris Palmer from the new UFL Hartford Colonials and say hello again to Howard Baldwin, the man most likely to keep Hartford hockey and Whaler dreams alive.

And Theresa Cramer tries to fall in love with the Celtics.

You can join the conversation. Will Hartford ever be able to attract a big name major league team? Leave your comments below, e-mail colin@wnpr.org or Tweet us @wnprcolin.
