Colin McEnroe Show: Romp And Roll With The CT RollerGirls

Having weathered the past political season in Connecticut, I have exactly one question about roller derby ... does anybody own it and make an insane amount of money from it and plan on running for Senate with all that money?

I'm pretty sure the answer is no, even though roller derby and pro wrestling live in adjoining cells of my brain, the stuff of early black and white television live weekend broadcasts. Fake fights. Staged arguments with the refs. A slightly more aerobic version of the Three Stooges.

Roller derby is back now, but it's different. Almost as if Title IX rubbed off on it, roller derby is played as a real sport by vibrant  women with tattoos and muscles.

And nobody's making enough money from it to pay for a Senate run in 2012. That's the other part of our show, as Mark Pazniokas and I ponder the future of Joe Lieberman.

Enjoying the show today.

I dressed my two year old as a roller derby girl and was happy to have a costume for her
that wasn't a princess. I love the fun-loving confidence that roller derby women project.
I'll accept my daughters choices, however she grows up, but i certainly hope she chooses derby over cheerleading.

Hey Colin, love your show, I listen every weekday while working. Your program is highly entertaining with great topics that gives me something to break the day up with.

I've heard mention of listeners wanting to change the opening theme song of your show. While I'm in my low 20s and don't listen to Prince, I absolutely love the theme song. I always sing along and do a little dance when it comes on. Please keep it, I think it works great!

Also I have been enjoying the little original pieces such as, "get to know your fringe candidate," and "current political scene." Keep up the great work!
