Colin McEnroe Show: Shakespeare Under The Sky
Here at the Colin McEnroe Show, we took our vacation in June, and we're committed to spending July and August bringing you new shows about the politics and culture of summer in Connecticut.
Tonight, there's jazz in Bushnell Park, and lots more of that to come.
We'll also check in with two of the state's outdoor Shakespeare companies, who are staging "As You Like It" and "Midsummer Night's Dream."
I've been thinking a lot lately about that latter show and its incredible durability. If there were a Shakespeare play you had to watch once a year for the rest of your life, you might pick that one because it never stops being fun and because there are so many ways to stage it, including the remarkable Hartford Stage production set in the 1950s a few seasons ago.
I'm connecting it also two the two major fantasy conventions held in Hartford this past weekend. Midsummer Night's Dream is Shakespeare's sci-fi.

Shakespeare show
Great lively and engagaging show. I want to see them all. ---Do you have a transcript of the opening that ran through all the Shakespeare related cliches? That was fab!
