Colin McEnroe Show: Winter Farmers Markets Are Hot!

It's getting colder, but that doesn't mean farmers markets are closing their doors.

On the show today we checked in with farmers across the state and asked about what foods will be available this fall and winter. There are farmer's markets all over the state and Colin - who is interested in this stuff to the point of obsession - breaks down where to go to get your favorite foods.

We want to hear from you. Where are some of your favorite farmer's markets? What fresh fruits and vegetables are you indulging in this fall? What are you looking forward to this winter?

How about a shout-out for Urban Oaks in New Britain?! Our market is open Fridays and Saturdays 12 months a year (yes 12!) And by the way, I've been picking our basil for local restaurants all afternoon!

I just wanted to mention that besides farmers' markets, in Willimantic, we have the Willimantic Food Co-op, which supports many local and regional farmers and vendors. And you can shop there 7 days a week! In addition, there's a great fish market in Willimantic, owned by a former Stonington fisherman, so lots of locally caught fish there.
