Lately, there's been a lot of debate over whether or not Connecticut should have hookahs.

There's been back and forth between public officials in Milford and the owner of a restuarant trying to open a hookah lounge there. The debate ended with the introduction of a bill to the Connecticut General Assembly which could essentially ban new hookah lounges in the state.

Are hookahs dangerous? Should they be banned? Or do you know what you're getting into when you go inside a hookah lounge.

We'll debate the issue today. Leave your comments below, e-mail colin@wnpr.org or Tweet us @wnprcolin.

Banning hookah lounges

In my opinion, it should be up to the individual establishments whether or not they're going to allow smoking. I don't see why it's a problem to clearly say that there will be smoking inside your lounge/store/bar/whatever. That way, anyone who goes it knows that they'll be going into an environment where there is smoking, and will be aware of the presence of second hand smoke.
