Connecticut Gallery To Auction John Lennon's White Suit From 'Abbey Road'
The Suit And A Blazer Sold for $120,000 in 2005
One of rock-n-roll’s most famous garments will be auctioned off on New Year’s Day. A Connecticut gallery will sell the white suit the bearded John Lennon wore as he led the Beatles across the cover of the “Abbey Road” album.
Step into Braswell Galleries - and there it is.
"Its an icon and it’s a major collectible piece" Gallery co-owner Kathy Braswell says the suit's current owner needs to raise money. The collector paid $120,000 in 2005 for the suit and a Lennon blazer. "We have no idea what it will bring. We have a lot of interest in Europe and Japan and locally. So, who knows?"
The Abby Road album cover is one of the most recognized, analyzed and satirized of all time. The auction also includes John Lennon’s fleur-de-lys jacket from the 1970 “Imagine” documentary and his green 1972 Chrysler station wagon.
