CT Businesses Make List Of Fastest Growing Private Companies
Many Connecticut businesses have shown they’re competitive with the best in the nation, making the list of Inc. Magazine’s fastest growing private companies. WNPR’s Harriet Jones reports.
The Inc 5,000 is a list of the fastest growing companies around the country, ranked by the growth in their total sales between 2006 and 2009. The top company in Connecticut to make the list is New Britain ticket reseller Easy Seat at number 176, showing 1,600% growth in the last three years.
Easy Seat, which was founded in 2005, has just 5 employees. Most of the businesses are small to mid sized, and many are relatively new enterprises. They come from a very diverse range of industries, and green companies are well represented, with companies such as Stamford wood chip and biomass firm Cogent Fibre, and Wilton-based solar power contractor Alteris Renewables, which is making a repeat appearance on the list. Alteris’ Ron French says it’s been a growth period for the whole industry.
Software firms such as SS&C Technologies of Windsor and Open Solutions of Glastonbury appear on the Inc. list, as do financial services companies, represented by Higher One in New Haven. The privately held firms all self-report their financial data to the magazine.
