CT Has Four Straight Months Of Employment Gains
Connecticut lost some 100,000 jobs in the recession
Connecticut added 3,000 jobs in April, and saw its unemployment rate drop. As WNPR’s Harriet Jones reports it’s the fourth straight month of employment gains.
The figures from the state Department of Labor show strong gains in the professional and business services sector, and also in manufacturing, which added 2,000 jobs. Also boosting the total, 1,400 temporary positions for census workers. Connecticut has now added almost 9,000 jobs since January, and Peter Gioia of the Connecticut Business and Industry Association says companies in the state are feeling more optimistic.
Connecticut lost some 100,000 jobs in the recession. The state’s unemployment rate dropped from 9.2% to 9%, well below the national rate of 9.9%.
