BNE Energy has submitted a petition to the Connecticut Siting Council to build two 1.6 Megawatt wind turbines in Prospect. If built, this will be the biggest wind project in the state. BNE is based in Delaware with offices in West Hartford.

The electricity produced would feed the grid. The town of Prospect would receive $145,000 a year in tax revenues from the project. The proposed site is 67 acres of undeveloped land on a ridge, 15 miles from Long Island Sound.

The proposed turbines, built by General Electric, are 328 feet high. In its petition, BNE says it hopes to start operating the turbines next year.

A group of residents from Prospect plan to protest the project on Saturday.
