Linda McMahon Announces Bid For U.S. Senate

Former WWE CEO Linda McMahon announced today she’ll run again for the U-S Senate in 2012.  McMahon stressed her business background at the top of the professional wrestling world.

Linda McMahon declared her candidacy for US Senate at a small family-run manufacturing company in Southington, CT.  "Ladies and gentlemen, I am a proven job creator and today I’m announcing that I’m a candidate for United States Senate"

She said her life’s story is an example of what hard-working Americans can achieve. And she said the current rate of unemployment is the government’s fault. "Here we are going into the fourth year of a lifeless economy. And we didn’t add a single new job last month for the millions of people who want to work."

McMahon spent an unprecedented 50 million dollars of her own money in a failed bid for Senate in 2010.  This time around, she’s expected to face former Congressman Chris Shays in a Republican primary, among other rivals. 

A recent Quinnipiac University poll finds her with a sizeable lead over Shays, but trailing the state’s two top Democratic candidates – Congressman Chris Murphy and former Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz.
