Nardello Calls For Wind Regulations
There are no regulations for wind power in CT.

The first commercial wind projects have been proposed in Connecticut in recent months. But there’s no regulation of wind power in the state statutes. WNPR’s Nancy Cohen reports lawmakers are expected to raise a bill next week calling for new regulations.
State Representative Vickie Nardello represents the town of Prospect, one of two communities where commercial wind projects have been proposed. The other is Colebrook. Nardello, who co-chairs the Energy and Technology Committee, says the regulations could set a safe distance between a wind turbine and a home.
“What we are trying to do is make sure that regulations are developed before any wind projects are sited in the state of Connecticut, that the regulations come before the projects themselves.”
Nardello says regulations could also address concerns about noise and ice from wind turbines. She says current wind proposals would be subject to the new regulations.
For WNPR I’m Nancy Cohen.
