The Nose: *Insert Bad Jeremy Lin Pun*, Contraception, Diets And Endoresments
The Nose tackles the week in popular culture.
Quick. Who are the speakers in the following quotes?
"My audience is God. ... The right way to play is not for others and not for myself, but for God. I’m still learning to be selfless and submit myself to God and give up my game to Him.”
Quote Two: "I invited God to become the chairman of the board of my life."
They're both in the news this week. The first speaker is Jeremy Lin. Do I really have to tell you who he is? The second is Foster Friess, Rick Santorum's millionaire backer and the guy who made the aspirin joke on Andrea Mitchell's show his week.
If you missed that one, we'll explain it to you today.
Each man is, to quote the Blues Brothers, on a mission from God; but a lot of people who are fairly comfortable with Lin would be freaked out by Friess.
We'll talk a little bit more about why that is on The Nose today.

It's pretty clear God doesn't
It's pretty clear God doesn't care much about football. Give him a good footrace any day ;-)

Funny - I'm a teacher, and until this past year, nobody questioned my town's BOE for opting not to cover contraception - or the special baby formula my highly allergic infant son needed when he was born. But when the church doesn't want to cover the same... Suddenly it's a crime? What is up with that?!?

One thing I always feel is it is more important to God how I play the game more than whether I am a winner or a loser. I train (for road races and track) recognizing this thing the Apostle Paul said:
"Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified." 1 Corinthians 9:24-27

I think they pray in public to "witness" Christ as they say
