Q Poll Finds Senate Race Tightens
Poll Director Says Blumenthal’s 3 point lead is “statistically insignificant"
A new poll from Quinnipiac University says Attorney General Richard Blumenthal’s lead in the U.S. senate race is shrinking. WNPR’s Nancy Cohen reports.
If the election were held today, the poll found only 49% of likely voters say they’d vote for Blumenthal. 46% say they’d vote for Republican challenger Linda McMahon. The Quinnipiac University poll director described Blumenthal’s three point lead as “statistically insignificant”. Blumenthal says he doesn’t “need a poll to tell him this was going to be a tough race.”
“I’m a fighter. I have never backed down from a fight and I’m not going to back down from this one. I’m going to show the people of Connecticut I’m going to fight for them stand by them, stand up for them in the United States senate."
Linda McMahon’s campaign released a written statement criticizing Blumenthal for supporting what McMahon calls a “national energy tax”. Blumenthal says he doesn’t support a tax on greenhouse gas emissions.
Blumenthal says he’ll intensify the contrast between himself and his opponent in the coming weeks by talking about Linda McMahon’s business, World Wrestling Entertainment and how she treated the people who worked for her.
