Where We Live: Checking In On New London

New London is a small city undergoing a big revitalization.  Can it survive a rash of senseless crime?

It’s been a rough couple months for the city of New London. The tight-knit community of artists and businesspeople who've been instrumental in jump-starting the port town has been shaken by the senseless death of a young artist and musician. The suspects are high school students who told police that they killed the man “because they were bored."

As the New London Day has been reporting, the murder, along with other incidents, has driven some residents to wonder about their safety.  Others have formed community groups to talk about the root causes of the violence, and what they can do to keep the city thriving.

We’ve made two visits to the city and today we’ll check in as the city tries to make sense of the crime… and hear what it means for the community, businesses and schools.

We want you to join the conversation - whether you live in New London, or if you live a city where crime has changed your daily life.
