The recession hit downtown Hartford’s commercial real estate market hard. In 2009, nearly 760,000 square feet of space became vacant. Combine this with bankruptcies and foreclosures, with stalled projects and a down economy, and it’s tough to know what shape the capitol city’s in.

Today, Where We Live, a talk with a writer who covers development, a city official and a developer, who’ll talk about the prospects of corporations, retail shops and residents moving into Hartford, and what Hartford’s real estate troubles can tell us about the rest of the state.
