Where We Live: Exploring the Treasures of Peru

An empire lost in the jungles of Peru, an explorer who uncovers the Incan ruins, and a battle over cultural heritage.

Today guest host Diane Orson looks at the life of an explorer.   Author Chris Heaney has written a carefully researched book about the life of Hiram Bingham – whose re-discovery of Machu Picchu has transformed our understanding of ancient history.

We talk to a Yale professor who works with the Incan artifacts and human bones sent to New Haven nearly a century ago, and we revisit the question "who owns antiquities"?

Also, we’ll learn about our own Peruvian American community right here in Connecticut.
