Where We Live: Haiti, One Year Out
It’s been a year since the devastating earthquake rocked the country of Haiti

Hundreds of organizations are working to send aid to the country of Haiti yet we hear about squalid tent cities, Cholera, Rapes, and a contentious runoff election.
It’s been a year since the devastating earthquake rocked the country of Haiti. So what’s the latest on the destruction, and clean-up efforts?
This week the Disaster Accountability Project released their one-year report. It tries to get a handle on how much money was donated to relief in Haiti – and where and how the money was spent.
Today, we’ll find out the results of that report, and hear from a reporter who tells tales of Haiti’s “Reconstruction Hell”: rape, squalor and crime in Port au Prince. All this building up to a runoff election on January 16th - which may be postponed.
We’ll also check-in with some local non-profits trying to help - like The Diocese of Norwich, who’ve drawn controversy for restructuring their relief efforts.

As a long time suporter of
As a long time suporter of the Haitian Mission, I received a fundraising appeal today. I would not consider giving until the Diocese releases the money it raised for Haitiain Missions last year and is holding hostage. Once that those funds have been disbursed, I will consider whether the new organization has surmounted the very poorly organized transition.
Donations
If Haitian Ministries for the Diocese of Norwich is no longer in existance, should they still be collecting donations the same question should be ask of Hospice St. Joseph.
