Where We Live: Jeff Butler on Energy
Connecticut Has The Second Highest Energy Rates in the Nation

Connecticut lawmakers approved a bill this session that subsidizes solar power, promotes energy efficiency and restructures the electric industry
The bill – called the most lobbied bill this session - has yet to be signed by Governor Rell.
The last decade of deregulation has resulted in the nation's second-highest electric rates. That’s something that candidates on the campaign trail keep citing as a reason why Connecticut can’t generate more jobs.
Advocates say the legislation will lower rates over the next few years. Opponents say it will stifle an emerging market.
Today, Where We Live, CL&P President Jeff Butler joins us to talk about what this bill means to his company, and he’ll try to explain what the charges on your electric bill actually mean.
