Where We Live: Jobs and the Economy
America is looking for ways to create jobs and avoid a prolonged recession. Europe is looking for ways to solve their own economic crisis.
But how do problems there affect your wallet here - and the other way around? And what are the best ways to deal with our economic troubles?
More than a year ago, Harvard economist Richard Parker joined more than 100 economists and other academics in signing a manifesto calling for tax cuts and stimulus spending to “reboot America” - but it seems the political realities of Washington are drowning out even the most well-regarded economic voices.
Parker’s speaking this week at a World Affairs Council event in West Hartford. He’ll join us, along with UConn economist Fred Carstensen, as we look at ties between the Global, national, and local economies.
Richard Parker will be speaking Wednesday October 19, 2011 as part of the World Affairs Council of Connecticut. More info here.

I don't think Washinton is listening to economic ideas. I think Washington is moving to the beat of an electoral campaign.
