We’ve explored the controversy over “Chronic Lyme” and treatment of the disease… but today we’re getting back to the cause: How do we prevent ourselves from getting bit in the first place?
Along with beautiful weather, of course, comes tick season.
Connecticut has long been ground zero in the fight against Lyme Disease. The tick-borne illness remains a major public health problem, especially in Coastal towns in the state.
Today, a discussion on Lyme Disease prevention. What can you do to reduce the risk of a tick bite? We’ll talk to local researchers and health officials – and answer your questions. How can you protect against ticks?


To these I must add the wood lice [ticks] with which the forests are so pestered that it is impossible to pass through a bush or to sit down, though the place be ever so pleasant, without having a whole swarm of them on your clothes.

3. soaking bite for several minutes with up ended bottle of rubbing alcohol
will prevent the disease from taking hold if repeated until itch has passed
4. do not scratch bite but use alcohol to end itch
