Where We Live: Millenials Redefine The Workplace
Is workplace hierarchy a thing of the past, with today's precocious millenials?
Workplace expert Al Bhatt says our places of employment should be made up of jazz bands, rather than a marching band.
Bhatt’s done consulting work for big companies like Facebook, Siemens, American Express, and State Farm Insurance.
Now Facebook, I can see them being pretty improvisational...but an insurance company?
Today, in advance of our “small business breakfast” tomorrow in Bridgeport, we’re going to look at the changing workplace in big businesses, and how they’re adapting to a new workforce.
Bhatt says the old ways don’t work anymore, and he’s got ideas for a type of independent, 21st century workplace that appeals to the millennial generation.

Fascinating Show. More Cluetrains Needed
Fascinating show. Enjoyed the comments and perspectives from the guests. Could not agree more with many of the comments surrounding need for companies to listen and fundamentally altered relationship of upcoming generation vs traditionally hierarchy-based Corporate America culture. Many concepts here on importance of conversation have also been articulated for over a decade in the tech sector, epitomized by the classic work, the Cluetrain Manifesto. Something a former colleague who went on great success at Facebook several years back continually referenced as the MO for Silicon Valley startups. http://www.cluetrain.org. Additionally, on the issue of importance of failing, a wonderful word by John Maxwell, Failing Forward.
