Where We Live: A Mixed Bag
Rowland has another job, many folks have none... and the "mixed bag" in Iraq
A disgraced former Governor takes to the air…new jobs numbers look good – but only on the surface…and Joe Lieberman says Iraq is “thriving.”
Today, we’ll tackle three stories we’ve been watching over the long, hot holiday weekend.
First, the station that pushed Colin McEnroe into a career in public radio has a new fill-in host, former Governor John Rowland, taking his turn at the microphone for vacationing tea party stalwart Jim Vicevich. We’ll check in with Bill Curry, Rowland’s long time nemesis, to see what he thinks.
Then, Economist Fred Carstensen stops by to tell us what new job numbers mean. The unemployment rate is down, and that should be good news, right…uh, right Fred?
And, we’ll check in with Scott Bates, just back from Iraq. He’s working on a State Department project to help set up a new government there. That’s what brought Joe Lieberman, John McCain, Lindsay Graham and now Joe Biden to the country, too. Despite the fact that Lieberman says Iraq is thriving – he’s pushing for a faster pace to the ponderous task of choosing new leadership.
