Where We Live: A New Study On Teens And Sex

We recently talked with teenagers about their attitudes toward sex, following a study that said a growing number of teens seems to think that teen pregnancy is okay.

Now, a new survey conducted by the CT Department of Public Health and Department Education tells us that nearly 70% of CT’s seniors are having sex.  The 2009 Youth Risk Survey polled 3,000 local teens on everything from eating to their sexual habits to other risky behavior like drinking and smoking.  Some trends were promising but some, like the 60% rate of condom use, were pretty alarming.  Today we’re talking with Celeste Jorge, an epidemiologist involved in the study, about what they discovered, how CT’s teens compare to the rest of the country, and how families can play an important role in the risks teens take.
